Getting Started with the ILCE-7M5: How to Start Shooting Immediately

    By following the steps below to set up your ILCE-7M5, you can start shooting immediately. Please see the Help Guide for a detailed description of each step.

    Open the battery cover and insert the battery.

    2. Charging the battery pack

    With the camera turned off, you can charge the battery pack by connecting the USB Type-C® terminal of the camera to the USB Type-C terminal of a commercially available device compatible with USB PD (USB Power Delivery) using a commercially available USB-Type-C cable (USB-C® – USB-C).

    3. Inserting a memory card

    Insert the memory card into Slot 1. When using two memory cards, insert the second one into Slot 2.

    4. Attaching a lens

    Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the lens. Mount the lens by aligning the two white index marks (mounting indexes) on the lens and camera. While pushing the lens lightly toward the camera, turn the lens slowly in the direction of the arrow until it clicks into the locked position.

    5. Performing the initial setup for the camera

    Set the ON/OFF (Power) switch to "ON" and follow the instructions on the camera screen. You can easily perform the initial setup using Creators' App.

    Set the Still/Movie/S&Q dial to (Still). Press the shutter button halfway down to focus, and then press the shutter button fully down.

    Set the Still/Movie/S&Q dial to (Movie). Press the MOVIE button to start recording. Press the MOVIE button again to stop recording.
