If a camera connected via HDMI cable or USB cable is not recognized when live streaming using a non-Sony app such as YouTube, etc., installed on the PDT-FP1
Step 1 Disconnect the camera and close any apps that are being used
Launch the app after connecting the camera to the PDT-FP1 via HDMI cable or USB cable, then check whether the camera is recognized on the app.
Note: The camera must be connected while the app is closed.
Step 2 If the camera is not recognized even after you have tried the above procedure
It may be possible to have the camera recognized by trying the steps below.
Note: It is not guaranteed that this will work for all apps.
- Disconnect the camera from the PDT-FP1, and make sure the app is closed.
- On the PDT-FP1, select Settings → Device connection → Connection preferences → Assign an external camera.
- In the Direction of the external camera setting, select either Front-facing or Rear-facing from the following options.
- Front-facing: Use the externally connected camera as the front-facing camera position of the PDT-FP1.
- Rear-facing: Use the externally connected camera as the main (rear-facing) camera position of the PDT-FP1.
Note: When selecting either of these positions, the camera for the QR Code reader included with the PDT-FP1 will not be able to be used. - Do not specify: Default setting. Select when using the pre-installed "External monitor"app.
- Exit the settings and connect the camera to the PDT-FP1 via HDMI cable or USB cable.
- Launch the app and check whether the externally connected camera is recognized.
If the app recognizes the image from the externally connected camera as expected, then the setup is complete. - If the externally connected camera is recognized but the image is not in the expected orientation, or if the camera’s vertical orientation is not at the expected angle, try the following steps.
- Disconnect the camera and exit the app.
- Open Assign an external camera again and adjust the Difference between external camera and device's vertical orientation (angle) setting.
Note: If the camera is still connected, or if the app is still running, the previous settings will remain and the new settings will not be reflected.
If the Assign an external camera setting is changed, make sure to disconnect the externally connected camera from the PDT-FP1 and close the app before setting the Assign an external camera item again.
Notes:
- The angle of view of the image displayed in the app installed on the PDT-FP1 may differ from the angle of view of the image that is actually streamed when using Assign an external camera. Check the angle of view in advance with a stream test.
- If Front-facing or Rear-facing is specified in the Assign an external camera setting, the "External monitor" app may not be available. If you want to use the "External monitor" app, select Do not specify.
