Well thanks to all for replying, and thanks very much to mattiaslarsson for the link from the French form, roughly translated from what I gather Sony hope to roll out within 4 weeks ending some time in May. That to me does not bring this thread to end as I still am appalled with Sony to the point I woke up and decided this morning that my Sony tablet s will be replaced by the new iPad and my Xperia S will be replaced by the Nokia 900. I have not fallen totally out of love with you Sony, if a products good you will still get my custom but no longer will you be the sole electronics brand in my house... Sorry genuinely but I feel so let down. All you had to do was relay that message to us in some official channel and not have all your fans trawl the net and heck only knows where for a bit of info...
Please all keep posting your thoughts as Sony may stumble on us one day lol
So the news it seems is no later than may...
Thanks again all and mattias for hunting that nugget of information
Thanks danc 1978 I feel the same as you. Typing this up now on my friends iPad 2 and I have to say I'm seeing why people are getting converted. From the French forum post kindly linked on here you may just get your update before you fly to the states!! If you take it with you though you should still be able to update if it's rolled out whilst your put there. A chap was on vacation from Canada in the uk and still managed to get his update last week.. Let me know how you get on but like I say fingers crossed you will have it before then :)
OpOpOpla,
before you fall totally out of love with Sony you should know that on the phone side (Xperia), Sony has been getting praise for being more informative then other smartphone companies about its plans for Android 4.0 upgrades. Check out the product blog for information.

Hey guys.
I know many of you dont want the hassle of rooting and changing region to get the update, and I thought the same. Unfortunately, I am a tad bit impatient, and I done it anyway... I craved the update!
There is two great tools and video instruction on how to do it on xda's forum. I am a newbie to rooting and technology, but this was as easy as making a cup of tea.
ICS is so much better from what I've seen so far!
LlThanx Mattias and i have to agree!! I have the arc s running ics and Sony did an excellent job with the roll out of that. I like that i can get to my music even with the lock screen on like on the xperia s. I do love Sony, to my eyes the arc s is the prettiest phone in years and the tablet s is refreshing compared to all the other slabs out there but more so than ever i get the feeling Sony just don't listen. I could not live a day without my mdrzx700's and mdrz1000s so I've not totally abandoned them!! :-)
I've not given up on them.... But they are going to have to work twice as hard to get my custom.
This sounds mad but I feel sad writing that, who would have thought an electronics band could get so much under ones skin
Ps thanks again for your French forum info, much appreciated!!!
Take care
Thanks Martin D, pleased your enjoying ics... !! :-) we are just kinda grinding our axe @ Sony for the lack if customer care. I have to agree though anyone who can't wait just take a trip over to xda.. You can't go wrong and rooting like you say is a simple task. I must advise that it does void the warranty here within the UK.
For those of you who prefer to wait or unsure the latest news is as follows:
USA confirmed
United Arab Emirates confirmed
Canada confirmed
Mexico confirmed
Singapore
Brazil
Europe including UK before the end of May (Thanks to Mattias for this who noticed an official line from Sony on the French forum that roughly translated said before May end, if you scroll up he kindly provided a link).
And what of you Sony UK? Care to join in, Sony France can apparently speak...
Take care all any news i'll keep it updated..
Love hearing all your views both ways even if you think its been handled good or bad.
Thanks OpOpOpla for setting up this thread.
I'm beginning to think that Sony must have overspent on the Tottenham Court Road launch of the Tablet S to afford any moderators for this site. I was loyal enough to Sony to queue for 17 hours on the street to get this tablet, the least they can do is let us know what the hell is going on. Maybe that experience should have been a warning - they certainly didn't seem to care about us in the same way that Apple caters to all their loyal pre-launch campers.
I used to be so proud of my tablet - it was different; everyone asked me what it was. Now I'm embarrassed by it - it drops WiFi, the screen keeps dimming randomly, artifacts crop us occasionally on video playback, there is noticable lag on text-input, browser crashing...the list goes on.
Can we all try posting #whereareyousony? on Twitter, repeatedly, until they answer us (if there is anyone there). Maybe #sonyoùêtes-vous would be a better idea.
Just got a reply to Sony on Twitter: -
@robertcarney87 Hi Robert, ICS for Tablet S is coming, we just can't confirm any dates yet. It's not too far away.
That clears everything up...
I followed it up with: -
Robert Carney @robertcarney87
@SonyUK Thanks for your reply, I will pass that on to the forum as no one there will reply to us. Cant wait for the WiFi problem to be fixed
Fingers crossed it will be this week :S
thanks rob just noticed your reply from sony:
@robertcarney87 Hi Robert, our apologies for missing the forum post. I'll see what we can do.
Just a big thanks to all who have helped with this including mattias robertcarney and michaelb just to name a few. Interesting how they missed the thread when it has over 40 posts and i linked them it directly on facebook hmmmm ![]()
I still urge you all to hound sony via twitter, facespace and youtube just so they can get a feeling for genuine lack of interest they have shown us. This is not just the UK I mean that to all our friends in Europe who have felt a little left in the dark recently by sony. ![]()
please contiune to post here as if we have sonys attention now (fingers crossed ho -hum) then they may actually listen...![]()
take care all and bye bye for now ![]()
