Hi,

I have a CR42z/r and i awoke one morning to find that the screen was all white.  I then discovered that if i moved the screen around that it wuld flicker back into life, sometimes needing readjustment.

I am still in this state and its really annoying.  When the screen goes all white i am able to squeeze the lower left corner and open/close the lid gently and it will come back to life, sometimes not updating until i move it about again where it might flicker.

There is a Youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EenQ2yb9-w) that illustrates my same problem.

I have removed the bezel, and screen from the lid in order to find any loose cables but cannot locate any (there arent many).

What could cause the screen to be better if i squeeze the bottom left corner?  Seems wierd to think it needs replacing if its like this and suggests a weak join somewhere but i cant locate it if i poke and prod each wire or cable in that vicinity.  Only localised action i can do is squeeze the bottom left of the screen, with our without the bezel.  Was surprised to find someone on Youtube with a video of same problem however which does make me think its a build/screen problem.

Ta

Nat.

I'm having the same problem as well. Anyone find a fix that didn't involve replacing the entire screen?

I like what you have done here. I
dont believe the answers given will help you. I also dont believe that you have
the same problem as in the video.
I have two suggestions for you that may
    help.

    1. Get good instructions how to disassemble the laptop model that
you have. Take the battery out.
    2. Disassemble and check the connection of
the video cable to the motherboard, familiarize yourself with instructions that
you find, usually involves flipping up tape flipping a latch 90 degrees, and
check the inverter connection. Disassemble the lid of the laptop, usually done
by removing screws taking off the bezel (where you will find the inverter
circuit board check the connector here) and removing screws holding the top of
the screen in place, tilting it forward and removing the screws that hold it
into the hinges. Tilt the screen forward look on the back and check this end of
the video cable. Reconnect and retape it firmly.
