Older Bravia Internet Connection

I have a three and a half year old Bravia KDL-32W4000 which I wish to connect to the internet.

It appears that the Sony USB WiFi adapter will not work with this set.

I can of course connect through a PC using several cables, but since BT are upgrading my

broadband to a decent speed next week, it would make sense to get a direct connection.

How can I best achieve this?

    Hi boy1925 and welcome.

     

    It just shows how fast things have moved in Smart TVs over recent years.  Although your TV is still an excellent full HD TV, it has no network or internet capability at all.

     

    To enjoy all the latest Internet features like streaming movies, browsing the internet, catching up with BBC iPlayer and sharing content across your Home Network, you may wish to consider buying a 2012 Blu-Ray Player which will give you all these features at reasonable cost.  Something like this one, which has built in WiFi, would give you these features: -

    Thanks Blencogo. I was afraid that would be the case.

    If I can stream iplayer etc through that blueray machine, that sounds like a very decent solution.

    Hi again,

    I see that the  S490 is offered for the same price by John Lewis. Do you ,or does anybody else know which is best?

    I'm sorry - I should have given you a choice so you could make a decision.

     

    The main difference is that the S490 is 3D capable but does not have a built in wireless facility.  The S390 is not 3D capable but does have built in wireless connection to your router direct.

    I thought you may find built in wireless of more value than 3D as you do not have a 3D TV - but I shouldn't make that judgement and I should have recommended you choose the one that suits you best.

     

    The S590 has both but costs more.  The S790 has additional features like Skype.
