HDD recorder cannot see HD channels

My HXD RDR970 cannot find HD channels. Just bought a Bravia TV with Freeview tuner and loads of HD channels have been found and look great but my 970 can't find anything new - have tried Replace as well as Add New channels. Thought I might try a hard reset but worried wil lose firmware updates I've installed.

The 970 upscales to 1080 p or i and I assumed this would mean I could also receive HD throughput.

I'm guessing I have to buy a seperate HD source to connect to the 970 - pity because I transfer a lot to disc.

Any advice appreciated.

    Hi Evergreen and welcome.

     

    Freeview HD requires a second tuner to be fitted to receive DVB-T2 HD transmissions.

     

    Your RDR-HXD970 only has DVB-T and Analogue tuners.  As it does not have the DVB-T2 tuner it is not capable of receiving Freeview HD broadcasts.

     

    You are right - you need a separate HD source.
