Hi, my VAIO has hardly been used on battery power, 1 year old. The battery indicator says 98% changed and health is EXCELLENT. But when I take mains power away it dies - ie. battery power does not kick in.

Also, noticed that when on mains power the 'battery charging' indicator is not showing that it is charging.

Puzzling ... clearly the VAIO knows that the battery is there, can read it's health, so it cannot be a contacts-related problem. They look clean. It can read the level of charge.

But it is not allowing itself to be run by the battery or charging it.

Any ideas please?
