I've just gotten my Sony Vaio SE - but I'm not happy! I've noticed that the CPU (i5-2450M) will throttle to around 2GHz when it encounters any load, even a single threaded load, and even while plugged into AC and set to high performance power plan. The CPU temp only reaches around 63 degrees (supposedly, according to coretemp). The clock frequency dips as low as 1.8GHz on a dual threaded load, and I have observed it drop to 1.6GHz and even 800MHz (although not reproducibly) with no noticeable change in temperature (i.e still around 65 degrees celcius)!
I don't find this performance to be acceptable, and I expect it is not normal. I'd like others to confirm it is indeed not normal.
