I have been having problems with my Vaio since new around 6 months ago. The first few months my touchpad seemed to have a mind of its own and I had to left click several times to get a response This happened not all the time but,a few times a week. The first real problem was my HDD failed and was replaced by Sony. Although I mentioned the touchpad problem it was not replaced. The problem got worse so Sony agreed to take the machine in again and this time replaced the motherboard and touchpad.
After the repair I still noticed problems with my curser freezing from time to time. I also noticed a very high byte reading in task manager coming from the Alps pointing device (ApntEx.exe) in fact the reading in 'I/0 other' was greater than all the other process byte consumptions put together!
Yesterday the machine died. No lights nothing. Motherboard fried?? I of course tested everything I could think of to no avail.
I have now contacted Sony and waiting for a reply. What I would like to know is this:
Is there a problem here with the Alps pointing device ie some sort of power leakage causing these things to happen? Has anyone else noticed high readings on ApntEx.exe??
