VAIO VGN-SR520G Batery life

I have just bought a Vaio VGN-SR520G Notebook in a Best Buy store in New York. At the Best Buy site on the internet it says that the batery would last for 6 hours. This is not true. My fully charged batery lasts only for 02:34 hours. Does this happen to someone else?

    I have a VGN-CS31S and the battery on that does not last the full time stated however I read somewhere that it all depends on what you are doing on the laptop, i.e. if you are viewing music videos then it zaps the battery quicker.

    I also have a Dell D630 and the battery life on that is much better.

    However I think it also depends on the amount of cells you have in your battery, i.e. 4, 6 or 9 - 9 lasting the longest, being the heaviest and most expensive.  I was not given the option when I purchased my laptop to upgrade the battery so I assume Sony only do the one flavour??

    It's worth contacting the Vaio Support people to see if you are getting what you should form your battery just in case there is something wrong with it.

    Estimated Battery Life: Up to 6.5 hours Standard
    Capacity Battery
    Up to 9.5 hours Large Capacity Battery
    Power Requirements: 121W + 10%

    Se por algum motivo o computador não está atendendo a este standard, é realmente porque há um problema com a bateria.

    Vc. deve contactar a loja onde vc. comprou para que a troca seja efetuada.

    Wow you're very lucky in my eyes. Mine has never lasted longer than an hour and a half, but for some reason now, whenever i dont have the charger plugged in it shuts down the laptop within 2 minutes, so basically the battery doesnt even matter. When my laptop restarts it says the battry is 85% or 90% charged so i don't see a reason for this happening. I have been on the power settings and made sure every setting says never turn off.

    Anybody got any ideas what is causing this?

    Sorry its a bit small, still getting to grips with putting pictures in the forum.

    Question to Sony Vaio Experts:   Is there an upgraded battery we can purchase, I assume the one that came with my laptop is only a 4 Cell battery - can we purchase a 6 or 9 Cell battery etc?

    This is a 9cell battery that is compatible with your model. Doesn't come cheap...

    Yes had a look but in the around £170 so will keep plugging in for now, unless father christmas is generous this year!

    O problema é que comprei o meu vaio em Nova York e moro no Brasil. É umapena que uma empresa do porte da Sony não disponha de uma garantia mundial. Provavelmente isso significa que eu e outros que compramos esse computador teremos de arcar com uma bateria que não atende o que espcifica no anúncio do computador. Isso é simplesmente lamentável.

    Em tempo : Observe que o Jan13 explicou muitíssimo bem os tipos de bateria existentes e Rich912 indicou a Loja virtual da Sony.

    Se vc. decidir comprar uma nova. Vou a SP ABRIL próximo a negócios e posso entregar à vc. pessoalmente.

    Tentarei falar com a Sony diretamente para tentar encontrar uma outra solução. Preciso de alguns dias, Ok ?...

    O Problema é que eu moro no Nordeste, em João Pessoa - Paraíba. Caso você realmente possa trazer a bateria para São Paulo eu posso pagar o frete da mesma de lá até aqui.

    Tentei o meu melhor, mas infelizmente não tenho boas notícias.

    Somente o US support (Suporte da Sony nos Estados Unidos poderá dar atenção ao seu caso).

    O computador foi comprado nos Estados Unidos e a Sony na Europa, não pode ajudá-lo.

    Lhe agradeço imensamente a sua atenção para com o meu caso. Só te faço um último pedido: você poderia me conseguir o contato do US Support? ai eu entrarei em conto com eles.
    Na verdade, estou adorando meu VAIO (que não é o primeiro e espero que não seja o último), mas tem esse pequeno detalhe.

    Hi i bought vaio vpccb notebook brand new from sony shop and it is says to batery life up to 5hours.

    but it last 2;40min . i dont know wath to do ,should i take it back ?
