PRS-T1 early screen failure

It looks like the screen has failed on my Sony PRS-T1 after only 18 months of operation. Cost over £100 to have it repaired by Sony? Has anyone has a similar failure and any ideas on how to resolve more cost effectively?

Europe warranty for my ereader PRS-T2

I need an e-mail address to complaint about the warranty of my e-reader out of Spain, I think there must be a central service in Europe or something. My PRS-T2 doesn't work in less than three months and Sony (of Spain) doesn't want to repair it. I think the corner of the screen is broken, inside the book, because of a mistake made in the factory.

My reader is only 5 months old and the side lamp does not work...

Is it normal ? How do I change it?

lovely that sony has updated the reader store - less lovely that this has made it difficult to access the store on the reader as no firmware has been release to update links to reader store on device.

i know i can use link i broweser to do it but why should i have to. get organised sony!!

Dropped PRS-505 reader

I dropped my Sony PRS - 505 reader onto a hard floor. It still switches on but the display has move approximately halfway across the screen width to the left. You can see thatthe menus and books are there, but you can't read them!

Can it be repaired? I tried a system reset with the shilded pinhole button on the back, but it returns to the same state.

Is it economic to repair?
How much?
Who / where? I live in Cornwall; there used to be a Sony store there.
I have about 85 books on the reader. Can I get the books, stored on my old laptop, onto my iPad?
If so, how? Apple software is horribly obscure.

Any help or advice is welcome. I tried the online Sony support, but it says it is unavailable.

unable to log into store from t1

I was helping my father in law the other day setting up his t1 so that he can buy books from the reader.

updated firmware, created account on reader store and authorised reader and computer. bought book on computer and realise i can transfer it using reader store.

the problem is that he is not very technical so i want him to be able to buy books on device(or i can buy books using his account on the computer and he can them download them from purchased content on reader).

the problem is that when i try and log into his account on the reader it keeps telling me login details are wrong. i have reset password which doesnt help.

I did wonder if it was something to do with the new reader store in the uk. went home and can log in fine on my t1.

anyone else had this problem? or any advice?

Windows has stopped recognising USB device

I have been connecting my psr600 without any problems for the last few days. However today it suddenly won't connect to my PC. When I plug it in I get a Windows message that says USB device not recognised and it doesn't appear in Reader for PC. I have just charged it fully. Why should it suddenly stop?

I have a PRS-600 and am thinking about buying the PRS T2. How easy is it to transfer over all the books in my current library - and will I have to re-register with Adobe Digital Editions?

PRS T1 not holding charge

I have a PRS T1 and it is no longer holding charge. I have tried charging it from laptop but as soon as I unplug reader ereader says there is no charge!

Help! Sony have kidnapped my ereader!

I bought a PRST1 ereader in May 2012 and after the third outing with the device I began to experience problems synching with my PC. I tried reinstalling the software and a soft reset on the device. This did not resolve the problem so I contacted the technical support number on the Sony website. Someone talked me through various options (including: a hard reset; uninstall and reinstall) but after more than 1 hour on the phone nothing had made any difference so I was asked to try it on a difference computer. So I couldn't take the device on holiday with me - which was the main reason I bought it in the first place. After I got back from holiday I spent another hour on phone to technical suppport trying to fix it and it was still not fixed. I was told to send it for repair which would be free as it was still within warranty. I sent it for repair (at the end of August) and the engineers say that there is nothing wrong with it so I have to pay £28 if I want it back.

I phoned technical support and complained that I was being asked to pay for a free service and was told 'just pay it and you can reclaim it'. I was suspicious. Why do I have to pay Sony so that they can then refund me? I refused to pay. So they are holding onto my ereader.

I phoned back to the technical support helpline and asked to speak to a senior supervisor. I was told no-one was available - but a senior person would ring me back. A week later I still had no response so I phoned again. I was put through to someone I was told was senior and he said I should contact the engineers directly as I know more about my reader than he does - he gave me a number to ring. I tried the number he gave me and was told that engineers do not speak to the public so I could not be put through. I phoned back technical support and the senior person said that he would look into my case and phone me back. He didn't. I phoned back two weeks later and he apologised and said he had been sick - that it was important that my case be dealt with urgently and he would do this. A week later he still had not phoned. I phoned back and was told he was unavailable. I asked to speak to his boss and was told that was not possible. I left a message saying that I was disgusted with the way that I was being treated.

Three weeks later someone phoned me back to say that they were taking my case seriously and wanted to deal with it quickly. They asked me to send an email detailing my case. I sent this email on 2nd of November. I had not heard anything by 6th of Nov. so I sent an email asking when I would get a response. On 9th of Nov. I got an email saying 'as soon as possible'. It is now 19th of Nov. and I have still not heard anything.

Can anyone suggest what I do next? Has anyone else had a similiar experience of woeful customer support?

I can find people asking for it in the states but not here.

I've been on the Sony site for over 1/2 hour. I cannot find a way to buy online. Also, the store locator doesn't seem to be working. I know how to buy a Sony on Amazon but I'd like to check the sony site before I do.

PRS-T2 Unable to delete Collections

Hi everyone

My problem is this, I have recently purchased a Sony PRS-T2 reader from the on-line Sony store. I have loaded several books under various collections and the problem was when I came to delete some of these collections it was not possible. The collections are greyed out. I contacted Sony support and they did reply and suggested I reset the reader by pressing the RESET button and then retrying the deletion of collections. I did this but it made no difference. I informed Sony of this by reply but have had no further emails from them and that was 5 days ago, so not impressed with Sony! I have sent another email to Sony today 2nd Oct 2012 to inform them I have not recieved any communications from them for 5 days so maybe they will read this!

This reader PRS-T2 is only available from the online Sony store so maybe the reader isn't fit for release yet.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

Hi All,

I have my prs 650 for two years. Never had a problem before and yesterday I noticed it had dropped down a bar on the power, which was funny as I had charged it over night and it was fully charged. I charge it via the original usb cable that came with the reader and I am charging it via a dell laptop. Last night I plugged it into the DEll and left it to charge. This morning I got the message " Charging complete" when I unplugged the usb cable I found the power had dropped another bar.

Two weeks ago I was on to by last bar of power and I decided to charge it in work via a non sony usb cable on a PC. It would not charge, though when I got home it would charge on the lap top with the sony usb cable.

What are my options ?

PRS350 READER WONT TURN ON, WORKED FINE TILL RECENTLY, TRIED TO CHARGE BY CONNECTING TO LAPTOP, THE RED CHARGING LIGHT COMES ON FOR ABOUT 90 SECONDS THEN GOES TO FLASHING AMBER, TRIED 'RESET' BUTTON STILL DOES THE SAME, SEEMS TO BECYCLING THROUGH THE ABOVE SEQUENCE EVERY FEW MINUTES

When subject to direct sunlight, the script on my prs600 fades so that it is virtually unreadable. It is ok in the shade. Has anyone else experienced this?

PRS 505 wont fully charge

Ive had my PRS 505 for about 4 years now and I love it. I only use it when I go on holiday so it gets used 3 or 4 times a year for a week or so each time. Every time I got to use it and preload it with books for my holiday the battery is completely flat and so i have to recharge it. Yesterday was one of those days. It was so flat it took over 2 hours charging just for my laptop to recognise it as an ereader. I went out for the evening so left it charging. Its now been charging for about 18 hours and still the battery meter is only showing its half charged (or half empty depending on your view on life!).

Has my reader approached the end of its life? Is it possible to replace the battery? Either way I dont think its been very good value for money but would replace it with something newer if i really had to just because its most convenient for holiday reading.

Please somebody help me, i have rang Sony 3 times now and they keep sending me emails with the incorrect information, I have forgotten my password for reader store, i have clicked on the forgotten password link but i am not recieving these emails, Sony are very unhelpful. I have the PRT-1 reader. sony have told me to uninstall any related reader on my pc and reinstall which i have done and still nothing, please help
