SVR-HDT1000 constantly missing recordings

This problem has happened on a number of occasions and I'm wondering if this is a fault with my model or something that is affecting everyone.

All of my series record programmes for the 12th haven't recorded.

When I switched to the HDD recorder today using the sync menu on the TV remote it became apparent that the HDD has completely switched off at some point as the start splash screen came up before showing the channel and then immediately started recording one of the programmes I had set to record today (the F1 coverage, of which a good chunk had been missed)

Is there something going on with the over-air updates that cause the the unit to switch off or is this just some sort of random fault?

If I go on holiday and this happens I miss all my programmes as it doesn't start recording until you switch the machine back on again and so makes the unit totally useless to me

When are ITV Player and 4OD coming to BRAVIA?

2011 TVs that come with a browser application still don't support embedded video. To quote from their website:

Visit your favourite websites and search the Internet using a simple web browser (display of embedded video not supported)

Why? Well if Sony allow that to happen they would cease to control what and how you watch media content on a Sony television. This doesn't make commercial sense as it would allow users to go outside of the current walled garden and would potentially leak revenue generation to other service providers. The platform is built so Sony can maximise the revenue stream it generates from services such as Qriocity and its partnship with LoveFilm etc.

Why would they want to build a platform that allowed you to spend your money with another company? From a business perspective that just doesn't make sense.

Maybe in the future their will be a game changing event, but I can't see that happening for a long time - if ever!

facebook widget permissions

Hi,

Does anyone know why the facebook widget needs such sweeping access rights to my faccount?

The one that particularily surprises me is:

Access my data anytime

BRAVIA may access my data when I'm not using the application.

What possible justification is there for doing this?

Most of the others can most probably be justified, but I have a nagging doubt about this one... perhaps I'm just too cynical!

Any clarification would be really helpful.

Are you sure this going to be in place for Sony TVs?

The latest blog post on the playstation blog ( http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/30/full-psn-services-including-playstation-store-return-this-week/ ) says:

Service restoration of Video on Demand powered by Qriocity™ and Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for a variety of network-enabled Sony devices will be announced later.

It suggests only PS3, PSP, VAIO and other PCs services will be restored this week.

I hope you are right as this was one of the key reasons for getting the TV in the first place.
